Because of the unexpected delay in the Call for Papers due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and subsequent questions
regarding the viability of New Orleans as our meeting site, there will be a shorter period of time to submit abstracts,
but the time for submission of completed papers will remain the same.

Payment is by check, cash or bank transfer; credit cards are not accepted. The Society
cannot afford the set-up, maintenance, and charge-per-transaction costs of
credit card transactions.
See below for special information for international participants.
International Participants
We are working to overcome some of the difficulties encountered in the past with hotel
reservations and registration and other fees for international participants.
Hotel reservations:
The hotel is setting up a special e-mail, fax and point-of-contact for
international participants. These will be posted here as soon as
they are available. book online now
Registration and other fees:
There is no perfect solution to the problem of payment of fees using different
currencies; however, there are several options available. As in past years, in
order to avoid late fees you must register before the early registration
deadline (January 15) and notify the PCS secretariat that you plan to use one
of the following options. (No notification is necessary if you send a check,
money order, or bank draft in U.S. currency, but the amount must match the
appropriate item[s] in the fee schedule.) Please note the additional charges for
wire transfers.
Check, money order, or bank draft for U.S. dollars mailed to the PCS
Secretariat.
Bank wire transfer—PCS bank routing information supplied upon request.
Include the following additional amounts in your calculations: $15 U.S.
bank fee per transfer and whatever fees originating bank charges. (The $15
to go to the PCS; remaining fee to originating bank.)
Cash paid at registration in New Orleans. No late fees are accrued if
arrangements are made before the early registration deadline. Late fees will
apply, however, if the request to pay in cash in New Orleans is made after
January 15.
Hotel
Participants are strongly urged to use the conference hotel .
It is important to make your reservations early and identify yourself as a participant
in the Public Choice Society Meetings in order to take advantage of the established
group rate.
We urge all attendees to schedule arrival and departure times so that all sessions
will be well-attended. Your colleagues deserve no less.
At the present time, the hotel room rate is improperly listed at $169 per night--the correct rate is $159 per night. An adjustment is expected to be made soon. In the meantime, please continue to register. We shall post a note to the website when the error has been corrected.
If you are planning to stay additional days in New Orleans, please make those reservations separately--the conference room rate should still apply.
The contract rate for a single/double is $159 plus tax and hotel fee.
Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly or
by email or fax. Additional hotel information for North American participants is
listed below. Slightly different arrangements have been made for international
participants; see that section for details. book online now
The cutoff date for conference-rate reservations is February 28, 2006.
After that, rooms will be on a space-available
basis and at prevailing daily rates.

If you would like to extend your stay in New Orleans either before or after the
conference, the InterContinental will allow PCS conference participants to
include additional days in the hotel at the conference rate. Make sure you
inform the hotel at the time you make your reservation and email the PCS
Secretariat as well.
Special Feature
A highlight of the 2006 Meeting will be a plenary roundtable on developing
the intellectual and social history of public choice and its allied fields.
It will include distinguished participants who will discuss how best to tell
the exciting “story” of public choice to different audiences, at different
levels, so its impact can be better understood and appreciated.
Projectors
Overhead projectors will be available for all sessions; we strongly encourage
presenters to use this format. LCD projectors are very expensive and beyond the
resources of the Society. (You may, of course, bring your own projector, but the
Society will not be responsible for personal equipment.)
Website
All papers accepted for presentation at the annual meeting will be posted on the
PCS website. Because this represents a form of publication that is often
overlooked, the following paragraph has been added to the registration form.
The Public Choice Society has my permission to post my conference paper to
the PCS website. In the event space becomes available to post archived as well
as current conference papers, it will be my responsibility to inform the Society
if my paper(s) has/have been accepted for publication elsewhere, and I will
acknowledge the conference in which the paper(s) was/were presented.
Submission of the registration form is acknowledgment that you have read the
agreement and consent to your paper being posted.
Membership
Membership is not a requirement for conference participation. This year we are establishing a
permanent membership registry, something we have not had in the past. The
annual dues are modest: $30 for professors and $15 for students. If you have not
already done so, there is a membership form you can complete
at any time.
Membership and payment of your annual dues entitles you to voting in election years, a
reduction in the registration fee, and the one-year posting on this website of recent or soon-to-be published
Books by Members. (For the last item, please contact your
publisher for permission and have them write to the PCS Secretariat at
pubchsoc@gmu.edu with details.) Finally, new members will receive
the official pin of the Society in their meeting registration packet.
Elections
Members only. Earlier we asked everyone to become a member of the Public Choice
Society for the coming year by paying a nominal fee of $30 ($15 for students) in
order to qualify for a reduced registration fee for the 2006 Meeting; to vote for the next president of the PCS; and to receive
benefits explained in the previous section. If you have not already done so, please
sign up now . Every paid-up member will be eligible to vote for the election of the president for 2006–2008.
Donations
The Society very much welcomes tax-deductible donations in any
amount. These include either untargeted funds for the general support of the
Society or targeted funds for the support of specific activities. In the case of the
latter, please contact steven.brams@nyu.edu to discuss initiatives you would like
the Society undertake as well as possible sources of funding (e.g., foundations)
for this purpose. There is an online form to facilitate your donation. »
